Dan Tuffy’s (Big Low/Parne Gadje) first solo album is being digitally released worldwide on 21 November. Physical release is set for February 2017 under exclusive license to Continental Record Services. The album features gorgeous collaborations with Matt Walker and Lucie Thorne. It was released earlier this year in Australia and is still receiving loads of attention there. Check a song or two out at https://soundcloud.com/smoked-recordings/belinda
Dan recently completed a killer run of shows in Melbourne, Australia with an equally killer backing band featuring Lucie Thorne on guitar & BVs, Matt Walker on guitar, Shane Walker on pedal steel and Grant Cummerford on double bass. The release of the album down-under attracted interviews on major press and radio, including an ABC Radio National show featuring the entire album. European release of the album is getting closer and there will be shows to follow up. Stay tuned! In the meanwhile here is a clip for one of the tracks.

To our great frustration and dismay, this site was hacked in June this year and has only come back online very recently. Any emails you may have sent to Smoked.com between June and now (24 September 2015) have never arrived – Im very sorry. If we haven’t replied this is why. Also, all news posts we had put online since 2011 have been wiped. There is no back up on the server so we have lost them forever. Consequently, if you scroll down this page, or look at the list of posts to the right of this, you are going to see old old news. A lot has happened between 2011 and now but Im not going to try to re-create it. If you are interested in whats been happening you can find out quite a bit by visiting our artist websites. Now for a fresh start. We are back!!

Big Low’s album “THE JUNCTION OF THE TWO RIVERS” will be released in Germany this September! Its garnered rave reviews everywhere. A must-hear for fans of Calexico, Woven Hand or Tom Waits, but completely its own thing.
Big Lows long awaited album “THE JUNCTION OF THE TWO RIVERS” was released on 13 October, 2008!! A must-hear for fans of Calexico, Woven Hand or Tom Waits, but completely its own thing. Big Low show here that there isnt much around that sounds quite like them.
Dan Tuffy (songs, acoustic & electric guitars, banjo bass, vocals) Marc Constandse (bandoneon, percussion incl darabuka, morrocan castinettes, gembir, cajon, chains and basically anything that rattles and makes a cool noise) & Michiel Hollanders(resonator guitar, velophone, singing saw and assorted textures from wherever he can get them).
In November 2006 Parne Gadje embarked on a 12 show theater tour of Germany. Guitarist/recording engineer Michiel Hollanders not only played all of the shows, he also managed to record them all with top shelf recording equipment. The result was over 20 hours of beautifully balanced professional recordings of the band doing what they do best. As you can imagine the selection process took ages. The very best of it has been mixed and mastered and sounds amazing. 16 tracks in total a mesmerizing document of what Parne Gadje are capable of and proof that these guys are one of the most influential and creative folk/world music groups around.
